RESIDENTS in the county will soon be able to pitch in their thoughts about what makes Oxfordshire great, in a bid to put things in place on the Oxfordshire Plan 2050 to preserve these qualities.

In the same way, they will also be able to voice the changes which need to be made.

The plan will set out the county's future for the next 30 years and look at ways of making a better quality of life for residents.

It comes after one of the first consultations about the future plan was held on Monday with local stakeholders, like environmental and heritage groups, and local businesses and transport representatives.

Feedback from the consultations, and other data collected in the next couple of months from questionnaires and surveys with residents will develop the plan, made by the Oxfordshire Growth Board, and backed by the six district councils – Oxford City, South Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire County, West Oxfordshire, Vale of White Horse and Cherwell.

It will use the £215m housing and growth deal secured by the growth board from the UK Government.

Each of the Oxfordshire councils have made a Local Plan for the period between 2031 and 2036.

Those plans will be incorporated into the Oxfordshire Plan 2050, and then looked at beyond those set periods until 2050.

After the plan is developed and examined by the planning inspectorate, it will go before each of the district councils who will consider voting to adopt it.

A new website is being launched this week explaining the plan more at Oxfordshireplan.org
