MEDICS in the children's A&E department at the John Radcliffe were given a free Christmas dinner by a local pub after they all missed out on staff lunch vouchers.

Claire Osborne, part of the nursing team on the unit, tweeted out a last-minute appeal on Sunday after she and three colleagues failed to get the special lunch tokens.

She said: "The A&E has been too busy to leave and queue for the vouchers at work and two of us were on annual leave when they asked for vouchers to be collected and didn’t hear about it until we got back."

After a retweet by the Oxford Mail, the White Hart pub at Wytham spotted the appeal and stepped up to the plate.

After enjoying their festive feast in fun fancy dress, Ms Osborne sent the Oxford Mail this picture on Tuesday evening, writing: "They sent us an amazing meal, mouthwatering turkey with ALL the trimmings and a delicious special gravy and cranberry sauce!"

She added: "All free of charge from the White Hart of Wytham!"
