A 'SELF-CHARGING' wardrobe which you can give instructions to, a 'Jeremy Fisher' bath and a whole gaming room underneath the bed are among the furnishings in two Oxfordshire schoolchildren's dream bedrooms.

Ten-year-old Edgar and six-year-old Alice from Wychwood CofE Primary School near Witney both put their dreams on paper for a competition run by 'luxury' housing developer Mactaggart & Mickel.

The company, which is building 31 homes in the village, asked all children at the school to design their perfect bedroom, then chose just two as the overall winners, both of them being presented with iPads at a school assembly.

Herald Series:

Alice, six, designed the brightly-coloured Beatrix Potter bedroom pictured above.

The dream den includes the author's beloved frog character Jeremy Fisher taking a bath, Squirrel Nutkin climbing a tree, and somewhat less happily, Mr Tod the fox turned into an animal skin rug on the floor.

Jemima Puddleduck, meanwhile, eyes the whole situation from on top of a wardrobe.

Herald Series:

Ten-year-old Edgar's super-sophisticated sci-fi bedroom also includes a wardrobe, but this one is robotic, and provides you with the clothes you want for the day upon giving instructions.

It also includes a 'Tie fighter chair for me and my friends to sit on', a 'large emperor's window' for Edgar to look out and survey his kingdom and a 'gaming room with X Box' under his bed.

Star Wars posters 'scattered about the room' naturally 'give more of a Star Wars feel'.

However as well as the two main winners, the contest judging panel ultimately decided that all the designs were so good that all the entrants would get £10 gift voucher for their work.
