A VAN was stopped by police on the A34 this morning for being 1.5tonnes over its weight limit.
Thames Valley Police officers pulled over the Mercedes Sprinter at Abingdon as it transported frozen food.
Officers said the tyres were carrying 30 per cent more weight than the manufacturers deemed to be safe.
The stop comes a day after a road policing unit pulled over a 40 tonne HGV on the A34 at Oxford after the driver had exceeded the 18-hour daily driving period.
