A WATCHDOG has encouraged a school to continue making improvements after a period of change.

Heyford Park Free School near Bicester has maintained its previous rating of 'good' after an Ofsted visit, but the inspector did raise some priorities for progress.

A letter sent to headteacher Karen Healey said the school has seen 'significant changes' and a 'high turnover of staff' since its last Ofsted in 2015, when it was also rated 'good'.

Praising action taken since Ms Healey took up post in January last year, it added: "These have already improved the curriculum, the overall quality of teaching and the way that staff manage pupils’ behaviour.

"However, you are acutely aware of the need to continue these improvements to ensure that they are embedded consistently throughout the school."

The all-through school, which opened in 2013, currently has 564 pupils on roll.

Ofsted said Ms Healey has a 'compelling vision' for the school, adding: "You and the head of the primary phase have worked with determination to establish high expectations and aspirations for all at the school.

"Governors are aspirational and share your ambitious vision for the school."

It outlined some key areas to improve, however, including quality of mathematics teaching as it said students had 'underperformed' in the latest maths GCSE results.
