A FAMILY who want to install a huge artwork in front of Oxford Children's Hospital next month in memory of their five-year-old son have raised £28,690.

Sally and Andrew Hall have now made one last appeal for donations this weekend to help them hit their £35,000 target.

The couple from Abingdon are using half of the money to create a huge artwork out of an enormous chain of loom band bracelets which their son Skye created with help from hundreds of supporters.

Artist Jane Watt is already working on creating the giant artwork and the family hope it will ready to be unveiled in early February.

Skye, who was treated at the children's hospital for a brain tumour, died in 2014 because of complications from his treatment.

His family, who set up their charity Blue Skye Thinking in his honour, will donate half the money raised in this appeal to brain tumour research.
