OXFORD United's official charity is giving youngsters the chance to learn football the Brazilian way.
Starting tomorrow, Oxford United in the Community is launching two brand new indoor futsal courses for children aged between four and eight, and nine and 12.
Futsal is played on a five-a-side indoor pitch, with a smaller, heavier ball that does not bounce.
Originally from Brazil, the sport is played to improve control and confidence in budding footballers.
Chris Lowes, head of operations at Oxford United in the Community, said: “Futsal is an ideal way for children to learn basic football skills in a very child-friendly environment that is nurturing and creative.
"Most Brazilian footballers grew up playing Futsal and have spoken highly of its benefits.
"On a local level we have seen the positive impact futsal has been delivering for youngsters and are excited to be launching our own programme in the county.”
The seven-week courses start at 5.30pm tomorrow at The Oxford Academy, Sandy Lane West, Oxford.
Sessions are run by the charity's experienced and fully-qualified coaches, which deliver programmes in schools across Oxfordshire.
The U’s official charity helps inspire youngsters to reach their potential and improve their health and wellbeing through football, engagement and education.
The courses are £60 per child for the full seven weeks and open to all children. Visit officialsoccerschools.co.uk/oxfordunited/
