A MAN has been charged after an elderly woman in her 80s was tricked into handing over a large amount of cash.

Police have charged Musthafa Ali, aged 21 of Quaker Court, Islington in London with one count of conspiracy to defraud.

The charge relates to a courier fraud in which an 80-year-old women withdrew cash in Didcot which was then collected by a courier.

The fraud offences took place on January 8 and January 10 when Ali was arrested.

He was charged the following day.

He has been remanded in custody and is expected to appear at Oxford Crown Court on Friday, February 8.
