A MAN who carried out a 'nasty' violent attack on a woman has been given his final date for sentencing.
Bernard Cowley, of Tyrrell's Way, Sutton Courtenay appeared from behind the dock at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.
The 37-year old had already admitted two assaults occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of perverting the course of justice.
The offences relate to two instances of violence in Sutton Courtenay in November and May last year.
Prosecutor Jonathan Stone described the case as a 'nasty' incident.

He said: "This is a case of violence in a domestic context and it is quite a nasty, serious case."
He added that the National Probation Service wanted to carry out a fuller report ahead of his sentencing and requested that the case be put back so that more can be learned about Cowley and that all sentencing options could be explored.
Judge Zoe Smith agreed that a report should be prepared ahead of his final sentencing.
She said: "There are a number of issues that should be properly explored. A full pre-sentence report can be prepared which will assist the sentencing judge on that day."
He was remanded in custody to await his sentencing which will take place at the same court on February 12. The hearing is expected to last 45 minutes.
