A BOY suffered a serious head injury after being hit by a car near Abingdon this morning.
The B4017 Wootton Road in Whitecross was shut both ways following the crash, which happened at 8.20am.
Police said a 15-year-old boy, a pedestrian, was struck by a grey Peugeot car between Sunningwell Road and Long Tow.
He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington.
Investigating officer PC Matthew Booker, of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing based at Bicester, said: "I’m appealing to anybody who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage, to contact police."
Anyone with information can call 101, quoting URN 201 (28/1).
South Central Ambulance Service spokesman David Gallagher said call handlers received 'multiple 999 calls' reporting the collision.
He said the 15-year-old was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in an ambulance.
SCAS sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, a paramedic team leader and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance critical care car to the incident.
Police closed the road both ways between Sunningwell Road and Copenhagen Drive, while officers investigated.
