A TROUPE of dancers in Bicester officially now hold the title of world record holders after a performance of Beauty and the Beast.

The determined dancers from Stagecoach Performing Arts Bicester were the 'Belle' of the ball as they smashed the Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous performance of one show.

The dance group, who are based at Brookside Primary School in Bucknell Road, attempted the record last summer to celebrate the dance school's 30th anniversary.

They were among 73 other groups across the UK, Germany and Canada that took on the challenge to dance all together to the Disney classic.

Stagecoach performing Arts Bicester this week announced the results of the world record attempt which has now officially been award to the troupe.

In a post on Facebook the group said: "Stagecoach Bicester are now new Guinness World Record holders.

"Whoop whoop we did it.

"Congratulations to everyone who performed in Beauty and the Beast."

The world record beats the previous attempt at 66 performances of Gladrags across the UK, Ireland and Germany.

It was achieved by the dance school ten years ago to mark its 20th anniversary celebrations.
