A FORMER garden centre is set to be turned into a housing estate.

A firm calling itself Oxfordshire Homes Ltd has submitted the plans for the old Newington Nurseries, just outside of Stadhampton in South Oxfordshire.

It is the latest set of proposals for the site in a long line since 2016.

The current scheme is for '31 dwellings, including affordable housing, together with access, parking, landscaping, amenity space and related infrastructure'.

Explaining their ideas in a submission to South Oxfordshire District Council, the applicants wrote: "The dwellings would be laid out in a combination of detached, semi-detached and terraced units, with the dwellings two-storey in scale, a number with projecting secondary gable sections and all of predominantly brick construction under pitched, tiled roofs with the principal ridge-line running parallel with the road."
