A MOTORCYCLIST died after losing control of her Harley Davidson on a roundabout and crashing head-on into a bus, an inquest has heard.

Sarah Spencer, from Abingdon, entered Bladon Roundabout from the A44 Woodstock Road but lost control once exiting onto the A4095 Upper Campsfield Road towards Bicester and hit a single decker Heyfordian coach.

The 50-year-old’s skull was fractured as a result, which caused her death, and she suffered from severe head trauma including trauma to the brain.

The crash, early on Monday, September 17, also caused a haemorrhage, rib, pelvis and spinal fracture.

The accident happened at 6.54am and after paramedics and off-duty doctors tried to resuscitate her after she had a cardiac arrest, Mrs Spencer died at the scene at 7.41am.

Exactly what caused her to lose control of the motorbike and end up colliding with the oncoming coach has not been fully established.

The forensic vehicle examiner report however, found that the rear tyre of the motorbike was below the correct tyre pressure and that this could have caused her loss of control.

Herald Series:

A toxicology report found that Mrs Spencer had not consumed alcohol or drugs and therefore did not contribute to her losing control.

She also had no medical conditions.

Paramedics stressed how grateful they were for the help of both the ODP and off-duty doctor who attended to Mrs Spencer before the emergency services arrived.

Mrs Spencer’s Harley Davidson motorcycle sustained severe damage, as did the front of the single-decker coach.
