A GANG of thieves have stolen £1.7m worth of perfume from a trailer in Oxfordshire.

Police say the gang used a HGV tractor unit to smash their way through the entrance gates at the compound where the trailer was being kept on Sunday March 10 between 10.12pm and 10.22pm.

They then hitched the HGV trailer onto their tractor unit before driving away with the valuable load.

The exact location of the perfume raid is not yet known, however the empty trailer was recovered in the Midlands.

The company which owns the perfume has since offered a £30,000 reward in relation to the theft.

The National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service which deals specifically with organised vehicle finance fraud is now investigating the incident and is appealing for information.
