RECYCLING bins will likely be loaded with packaging this weekend as chocolate lovers rip open Easter eggs.

Many residents will have to wait a little longer for them to be emptied, however, with some Oxfordshire councils rescheduling waste collections due to the bank holidays.

The affected days are not just Good Friday and Easter Monday - many weekday collections scheduled for next week will be delayed until the next day, with some Saturday collections.

The bank holiday bin collection days, as stated on the respective district councils' websites, are listed below:

Cherwell District Council has advised residents, whose collections fall on a Friday or Monday, that they can put their bins out as usual.

The council's website states: "Crews will work the bank holidays to ensure services are unaffected by the Easter break.

"It is expected additional recycling will be created over as cardboard and tinfoil used to package eggs can be recycled in the blue bin, as can Easter cards and packaging from boxes of chocolates."
