FROM the soothing sight of rolling fields to costumed revellers head-to-toe in the shade we have loved seeing Camera Club's diverse submissions for our 'green' theme this week.

Many unsurprisingly chose to focus on nature with stand outs including Io Nutz's snap of Bagley Wood, the head-on shot of the trees giving the image a great sense of depth.

A more usual countryside scene that caught our attention was Helen Ward's shot of trees reflected in water, which in turn are both reflected in a puddle.

Herald Series:

We particularly enjoy the ducks looking as if they as swimming across the sky in this deceptive photograph.

Wildlife was also the subject of many entries and we enjoyed more unusual creatures getting their turn in the spotlight.

PICTURES: Canine heroes in the spotlight

A frog clings to a stalk in Graham Cherry's snap and a chameleon is caught in stunning detail in Allen Dannfald's image.

Another reptile shot that caught our attention was Simon Logan's image of two snakes coiled around a branch.

Herald Series:

A common sight to any cat owner, meanwhile, is captured in Beatrix Forbes' photograph of a feline peering entreatingly through glass.

We particularly like the way the textured barrier slightly distorts the animal and its green background.

Another cat image we enjoyed was Gordon Craig's close up picture, which features the the feline's vivid green eyes staring out.

It wasn't all about wildlife though with plenty of snappers instead focused on people.

Herald Series:

We loved the perspective Derek Bird used in a shot of his son with his feet in Lake Garda, Italy, which has been taken from above.

A leaping football player in lime green, meanwhile, stars in Trish Davies' snap.

Objects also proved a fruitful subject for photographers, with rows of tempting macarons in Steve Clarke's image and a sheet of vintage stamps by Bryan Robertson showing how repetition often makes for a striking snap.

Herald Series:

In recognition of just how changeable things can be this time of year, next week's theme is 'weather'.
