A SERVICE will take place tomorrow to remember the life of much-loved Kidlington resident John Wheeler.

The retired police officer and driving instructor, 75, died in a motorbike crash near Newbury on March 26.

Hundreds of people paid tribute to the father-of-four, describing him as a 'legend' and a 'true gentleman.'

A service will be held in his memory at St Michael and All Angels CE Church in Summertown tomorrow, at 2pm.

The family have asked for no flowers but donations are welcome for The Broken Spoke Co-op and FarmAbility, which can be made via john-d-wheeler.muchloved.com or via Sandra Homewood Funerals.

Mr Wheeler appeared in the Oxford Mail several times over the years, including when celebrating his '18th birthday' in 2016.

He was technically turning 72, but had only seen his actual birthday 18 times, as he was born in a leap year on February 29.
