YOUNG actors lit up an East Oxford park last night with a fiery show to celebrate 30 years of solidarity.

The Mandala Young Company performed its spectacular free outdoor fire show in Florence Park to mark three decades since Oxford was twinned with Grenoble.

The unique show, titled 'Lucifer and Miss Primrose', is a collaboration between the company and Histoires 100 Fins, a theatre group from Grenoble.

About 250 people watched on as a monologue told the story of the performance, which asked 'what does it mean to be human'.

Yesterday's two shows were the first performances of the production, which will be repeated tonight at Gloucester Green at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

It will be performed again this summer at Parc Michallon, Grenoble, France.

Mandala Young Company is made up of Oxford-based young people with a passion for theatre and the performing arts.

Their French counterparts specialise in using fire and pyrotechnics to tell stories through theatre, circus and dance performances.

Grenoble is one of Oxford's seven twin cities.
