AN ENORMOUS caterpillar carved out of a suburban hedgerow has been catching attention in Oxford.
The two-metre long bug has been painstaingly trimmed out of a garden hedge in Riverside Road, off Botley Road.
Using precision instruments and artistic intuition, the homeowners have shaped a body with six segments and a head with two antennae.

The crowning glory of the piece is the beaming smile on the caterpillar's face.
Though the insect has sat on the garden wall for some time, it truly comes into its own in the summer sunshine.
Just this lunchtime, office workers strolling to nearby Waitrose on their breaks were stopping to admire the giant bug.

While it is a stunning spectacle, it is not the only topiary creation in Oxfordshire.
