WAITROSE has recalled a range of beetroot over fears it could contain glass.
The warning concerns the 340g jars of Essential Waitrose Pickled Sweet Sliced Beetroot, which have an expiration date of September 2020.
An alert by the Food Standards Agency explained: "The presence of glass makes this product unsafe to eat."
The agency has told customers who bought the product not to eat from the jars and return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.
Point of sale notices will be displayed in all Waitrose stores selling the product to explain why it is being recalled and tell customers what to do.
No other Waitrose products are known to be affected.
