BOVIS Homes has defended itself after being criticised over an unfinished housing estate in Wantage.

The developer has built hundreds of homes on the Stockham Farm site – now named Letcombe Fields – off Denchworth Road.

One former Wantage resident, who did not want to be named said: “This site was supposed to be finished more than a year ago and they have basically abandoned it, leaving fencing and materials on site.

“The drains are blocked, the block paved roads are falling apart, the residents on the site have complained numerous times, but nothing has been resolved.”

Bovis Homes spokesperson Charlotte Offord disputed the claims.

She responded: “Letcombe Fields has become a flourishing new part of the Wantage community and we are committed to completing the development to the high standards we strive for.

“The main road is currently being used by another housebuilder for construction access and once their work is complete, we will undertake the final works and resurface the road. This has been communicated to residents.

“We will continue to work closely with our contractors to address the outstanding works. We were told of a possible blocked drain, which was jetted the following day and no blockage was found.”
