THE organiser of Oxfordshire's first barbecue festival has pledged to come back bigger and better next year.

Dawn Hutcheon, who staged the fiery festival in Abingdon Market Place on Saturday, said she was delighted to see people having fun in the sun but wanted to get them even more fired up in 2019.

The peppery party saw the likes of Simon Blundell from Wiltshire Chilli Farm, above, selling spicy sauces to marinade meat and add variety to veg.

Jordan and Cliff Butler from Fat Tabby Pizzas served up freshly-baked treats from their oven while 'The Saucy Lady' showed off her piquant selection of devilish dressings.

There was also a bucking bronco ride for little cowboys, local beekeeper David Busby and live music from Superloose and former Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley.

Frustratingly, Ms Hutcheon said several caterers pulled out of the event at the last minute, but she decided for forge ahead anyway to try to give the town a fun day out.
