THE man killed after being hit by a train near Abingdon was a widowed 79-year-old, a court heard today.

Retired electronic engineer Alan Vickers, of Norris Close, Abingdon, died when he was struck near Culham Station on May 19.

Speaking at Oxford Coroner's Court, Coroner Darren Salter said Mr Vickers had been identified by 'finger print comparison' ten days later.

He added that a post mortem gave the cause of death as 'multiple injuries'.

The inquest will be held on Wednesday, October 23.
