ALICE Powell was fortunate to walk away from this scary moment in Italy.
The Chipping Norton driver was racing in the third round of the W Series – an all-female championship – in Misano.
However, Saturday’s race ended early for her when Liechtenstein’s Fabienne Wohlwend, who started from pole position, began the race slowly and Powell caught the back of her car.
It sent her airborne, and whilst it looked like the car might end upside down, fortunately it didn’t.
Her broken suspension and wheel forced her to retire, but the main thing was Powell survived the horror crash.
She tweeted: “Well, that wasn’t ideal... a racing incident ended my race. I’ll be back fighting again, that is for sure!”
Fellow Brit Jamie Chadwick won for the second time in three races to extend her lead at the top of the championship.
