THAME’S popular Midsomer Walking Tours, inspired by the long-running TV series Midsomer Murders, have expanded into the world of social media.

Organisers behind the tours announced this week that they had set up a new Facebook page, inviting comments and feedback on the dedicated page.

Tony Long, tour co-ordinator, said: “If everyone can ‘like’ the new Facebook page, write a review, perhaps including a photo taken during a tour, and spread the news about the page to friends and family, that will help us get well and truly on the social map.”

The tours, which take in Thame locations used for filming the TV series, run every Wednesday at 11am.

The Facebook push for the tours comes after a plan by Thame Town Council to put up plaques around the town at spots that have appeared on the show was rejected by South Oxfordshire District Council last month.

District council planning officers said they were worried that sticking bright red plaques about a TV show on several Grade II-listed historic buildings would harm their heritage value.
