IT WAS smiles all round for family and friends of Edith Jones yesterday as she celebrated turning 100 years old.
A party of people marked the momentous occasion for the former typist who has lived in Didcot almost all her life.
Mrs Jones took up the role for many years at Vauxhall Barracks, before moving on to be a clerk at Greenmere School also in Didcot.

She also saw family members from Devon, and a local family friend who visits at the care home every week.
Mrs Jones, who married her late husband Harold Jones in 1939, also received a letter from the Queen.
The pair went on to have two daughters Mrs Barfield and Eileen Knight, who now lives in Vancouver, plus five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
