FAMILIES enjoyed fun fayre rides and ice cream as the new Great Hollands Pavillion was officially opened.

The new £1.7 million site has a splash zone for children to enjoy in the warm weather, outdoor seating, a hall and cafe.

Residents are also able to hire out the venue for special occasions.

The recently appointed Bracknell Town Council Mayor officially opened the new pavilion to members of the public, police community support officers and councillors.

Mayor Councillor Isabel Mattick said: "I think it is magnificent and it replicates what was once an old building.

"It is so important that children have something to do and people can hire it for meetings, receptions - it is much more flexible now."

Councillor Chris Turrell, executive member for planning and transport, said: "Parents want something for children that is entertaining and cost free.

"It is a beautiful open space and there is plenty of it for activities and it is a big achievement that we had a very good working group working alongside this."
