The campaign has been led by Mr Wenda since he fled his home country in 2002.

Oxford City Council councillors agreed to give the award to Mr Wenda last October in recognition of his 'contributions as a campaigner for peaceful democracy and to the wider life of the city.'

The ceremony will take place in Oxford Town Hall's Assembly Room from 5pm today.
