POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a man died in hospital following a fight on Cowley Road. 

On Thursday police were called to reports of a fight between two men on Cowley Road. 

Officers went to the scene and a 57-year-old man was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries. 

This afternoon police have announced that the man has sadly passed away. 

A 41-year-ld man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Investigating officer, detective inspector Mike Roddy, of the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation into this incident, which has tragically resulted in a man losing his life.

“I know that this incident will cause concern in the community but I would like to reassure people that we believe this to be an isolated incident, and that officers have made an arrest.

“Members of the public might see an increased police presence in the area while we are carrying out our investigation.
