SUE Collins recorded a landmark first victory in the Oxford Carp League.

The Didcot angler, who turns out each week, saw off her 19 rivals to win the ninth round with an impressive 193lbs 12oz, 0drms from peg 20 on Lambsdown Lake, Meadowlands Fishery, near Coventry.

She fished straight lead with yellow washer pellet hookbait over loose feed of 8mm fishery pellet, catching carp to 15 pounds, for a new personal best match weight.

Runner-up was match organiser Gerry Foley (Kidlington).

Fishing next to the winner on peg 19, Foley caught the majority of his 165.8.0 on pole and 8mm pellet.

Harwell’s Steve Cantwell was third.

Andy Wiffin took the honours when Yarnton and District AC fished the penultimate round of their summer league at Bishops Bowl fishery in Warwickshire.

In difficult conditions, the winner prevailed with 40.3.0 of paste-caught carp.

Steve Johnson was second with 32.12.0 of pellet-caught carp, while Jacob Oliver completing the podium with 26.1.0 of carp caught on pellet shallow.

With one round to go, Harry Oliver heads the league with 60 points, but younger brother Jacob is now just two points behind.

Paul Smith battled conditions to win Beehive AC’s match on Frobury Farm.

He returned 70.0.0 carp to pole and pellet, comfortable beating Bob Hopgood who landed 47.0.0 carp to pole. Tim Whitewood was third with 32.0.0 of carp to pole and maggot.
