WHETHER it’s the rapidly approaching new school year or fields of barley being transformed into bales, change is afoot in Oxfordshire.

The passage of time, be it short or long, was captured by Camera Club members this week.

Contrasting old and new was a popular subject with several stand out shots.

Herald Series:

We loved Sharon Allen’s snap of a few of the convoy of classic Minis that made its way across the county’s roads on Monday, representing various eras in the Oxford motor’s six-decade history.

Another favourite was a collection of coins and notes by June Rawlings, which showcased changes in the currency.

A literal interpretation of our ‘changing times’ theme could also be seen in a row of watches from different decades.

Herald Series:

The evolution of London, meanwhile, was on full display in Ian White’s spectacular image of the new high-rise office buildings of the Canary Wharf financial district dwarfing the remaining buildings of the old London Docks.

A submission that showed changing architecture closer to home was Ann Faulkner’s photograph of one of the Botley cranes that have become a familiar sight for many in recent months as they transform the city.

Herald Series:

There were also plenty of reminders of the past with a particular favourite an old-fashioned driving licence which once belonged to Denise Gurden's mother in the 1960s.

As we slowly edge towards autumn plenty of entries focused on how nature is changing.

We loved Roy Pyniger's picture of a pair of green acorns and Becca Collacott's image of fallen pine cones.

Herald Series:

Sharing the snap on the Oxford Mail Camera Club's Facebook she commented: "Soon be Christmas". Well, not quite.

Bryan Robertson's submission did capture Blenheim's Grand Bridge in more wintry conditions as part of a striking shot that combines two images to show the historic structure at two times of year.

Herald Series:

We enjoyed how the pictures are perfectly lined up to make one complete image.

Next week’s theme is 'geometric'.
