ENCOURAGING cycling for all ages is on the agenda at today’s Riding a Bike conference.
It is being organised by cycling campaign group Cyclox and Oxford Brookes University and is being staged at the university’s Headington Campus.
Those attending, including city councillors, will explore how they can get people who used to cycle, or have never cycled, onto bikes.
The event, which runs from 10am to 4.30pm, will feature interactive workshops, cycle tours, demonstrations and rides on ebikes and adapted bikes, and talks.
Amongst those speaking at the conference will be city councillor Pat Kennedy, who will be on the afternoon discussion panel.

The event will be opened by the Lord Mayor Craig Simmons.
Oxford has the second highest prevalence for cycling at least once a week in the country (39 per cent of residents), and the second highest rate of residents cycling to work (17 per cent of residents).
There are currently 3,906 bike parking spaces in Oxford city centre.

A report commissioned by the council identified 145 locations across the city centre where cycle parking could be installed or expanded.
Ms Kennedy said: “We know that cycling is very important for health and wellbeing.”
