A STUDENT has tackled one of the world’s toughest car rallies in his grandad’s Nissan Micra and made it back in time for his first lecture of the term.
Oxford Brookes University student Daniel Satch took on the 15th Mongol Rally driving from Prague to Ulan Ude in Russia.
The 23-year-old Army Reservist covered more than 10,000 miles with his friend Adriaan Durandt in his grandfather’s bright green 1999 Micra.

John Satch – who was an RAF engineer – had himself driven the verdant vintage vehicle until he was 98 years old.
The young pair were raising money for two causes during their expedition – anti-deforestation charity Cool Earth and SSAFA, the armed forces charity for which his brother William Satch is an ambassador.
An update from the Team Grandad said online: “We would like to say a massive thank you to all our sponsors and everyone who has donated – without you this expedition wouldn’t of happened.
"To this date we have raised £1,134.75 for SSAFA and with other teams over £1.5m for Cool Earth."
