WANTAGE Literary Festival is currently looking for people to take part in writing and performing talent competitions.

Three prizes winners for each age category will have the opportunity to take to the stage at the 300 Words finale on Sunday, October 27.

Last year’s overall winner Camilla Kirk from Drayton Primary School, scooped a £100 book token for her school along with a book token for herself with her entry ‘Odd Ones Out’.

Finalists of the Poetry Slam will take to the spotlight and battle it out, with a three-minute slot on Tuesday, October 29, in the new King Alfred’s Sixth Form.

The audience will then decide the overall Young Person’s Champ (16 – 21) and Festival Champ (22+), both of whom will walk away with a unique item crafted by local potter Nikki Herring.

Audience tickets for both events will be available on the door or in advance via wantageliteraryfestival.co.uk

Compere and judge for both these events is local poet Elaine Baker, Patron of Writing at Didcot Girls School and Poet-in-Residence at the Vale and Downland Museum.

Entry to either event is entirely free.
