THE captain of a golf club near Faringdon has said he is 'gutted' over its closure.
In a post on Facebook on Tuesday Kevin Howe confirmed Carswell Golf Club was shutting for good.
The business is still listed as active on companies house, with Gerardo Lisi named as the current director. The club's website, however, is no longer working.

Mr Howe wrote he had been told by Mr Lisi the golf club 'was no more' with staff let go and the only viable option if it was sold and run by others.

He added: “The clubhouse has been stripped out and left in a mess according to Geri which he said was very upsetting, he is working with the liquidators to sort things out but on what time scale I have no idea."
Mr Howe said the gates would be open today for players to collect things from lockers. He added other clubs had been in touch to offer free golf or good rates to play including Witney, Drayton, Shrivenham and Bicester.
He said: "As captain and a long time member with many friends at Carswell I am gutted that our friendly clubhouse and loyal members will no longer play there but we move on."
He added many members intended to form Carswell Nomads and play at different courses through the winter.
