HEALTH and safety inspectors issued a Swindon pharmaceutical firm with an official warning after a hazardous materials leak.

The Health and Safety Executive visited Catalent's factory on the Blagrove industrial estate last month following the incident that saw fire crews called to the site.

The watchdog said inspectors had issued Catalet with a so-called Notification of Contravention, a type of official warning given where regulations are breached.

A spokesman said there were concerns around the labelling on some of the pipework involved in the incident. He added: "We're planning further visits to monitor improvements."

Catalent manufactures fast dissolving tablets for the pharmaceutical industry.

A spokesman said: "Catalent takes the health and safety of its employees extremely seriously and complies with relevant guidance.

"Following receipt of the Health and Safety Executive’s comments at the time of the incident, the company immediately implemented the actions suggested."
