OXFORDSHIRE MP Ed Vaizey has been readmitted to the Conservative party alongside nine other members of parliament.

The MP for Didcot and Wantage had the party whip restored last night, shortly before a vote on a general election.

Twenty one Tory MPs were expelled from the parliamentary party after they backed legislation to stop a no-deal Brexit in September.

Now 10 of them, including Mr Vaizey, have been welcomed back, ahead of the general election set to take place on December 12.

Other MPs who have had the Tory whip restored include Sir Nicholas Soames, Alistair Burt, Margot James, Greg Clark, Caroline Nokes, Richard Benyon, Stephen Hammond, Steve Brine and Richard Harrington.

Eleven of the rebels still remain as independents.
