BUNGLING burglars smashed their way into a house and tried to take the cars, but left with just the keys when they couldn't get into the garage.

The thieves broke into the home on Mill Lane in Chalgrove, by shattering the glass panes of the back patio doors.

It happened between 5pm and 11.59pm – just before midnight – on Monday (October 28).

When the thieves got inside they raided the house, rifling through the owners' belongings before making off with just the car keys.

But when the victims got back to their house both of the cars were still safely locked up in the garage after the burglars attempts to break in had ended with no luck.

Now Thames Valley Police is appealing to any witnesses who might have seen or heard something to get in touch.
