A POLICE officer accused of stepping out of line will face the heads of Thames Valley Police at a disciplinary next week.

But details of the misconduct hearing have been clouded in mystery.

Unusually it is not known who the officer is, why they are subject to a misconduct hearing or where they are based.

Thames Valley Police – which has officers based in Oxfordshire, Berkshire or Buckinghamshire – publish the details of the hearings as part of their procedure.

This week they have said a misconduct hearing will take place in connection with a serving officer.

The hearing will be held at the force's headquarters in Kidlington, Oxfordshire on Monday and will run through to Friday.

It will be in front of a panel of people from the force including the legally qualified chairperson, Harry Ireland.

It is alleged that the officer's conduct breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Discreditable Conduct.

The force say the allegations are so serious that if they are found guilty, they will have committed gross misconduct – which means a dismissal from the police force would be justified.

As it is the officer is currently suspended.

Usually members of the public can apply to attend a misconduct hearing – but numbers are limited.

However this hearing will be held in private.

TVP say this is because of the anonymity of other parties involved in the allegations.

One example of a previous police misconduct hearing in which an officer was found guilty of breaching the standards of professional behaviour was in 2015 when DS Brashaw was found guilty of assaulting a colleague twice while off duty in July 2013 and January 2014.
