Dangerous Fireworks

I'm not against fireworks per se other than the detrimental affect they have on animals and that they are not restricted to one night a year. However when they become dangerous and potentially threaten injury or death, my reasonable consideration ceases. Thus this letter.

Last Friday 8th November fireworks were discharged from a garden close to my property which were very loud and most distressing. It was after all three days after bonfire night. However that's not the whole story. The following morning there were a number of empty rocket cases in my garden. Ok the dischargers have no control over where their rockets go and normally the empties would go in the bin for recycling and that would be it. However one rocket case was embedded in my lawn to a depth of 8 centimetres (around three inches). It was 110 centimetres (around 42 inches) long and built of solid wood. It landed around three metres from my conservatory which had it hit it I'm sure the glass would have shattered. Worse still had it hit me or a child it would have caused considerable injury or death.

There must be laws about shooting missiles into the air without control of where they are going to land. Someone in my case has potentially got away with murder.

I hope this experience will make people think before someone gets seriously injured or worse.
