TRAFFIC was held on the M40 in the early hours of this morning following a crash.
The northbound carriageway was closed between Junction 8A, the Ramada services near Wheatley, and Junction 9, the Wendlebury Interchange near Bicester.

Highways England tweeted about the closure just after 1.30am today, and said police were also on the scene.

Traffic was held for about half an hour until one lane reopened, but the authority said the collision caused 'extensive debris' on the carriageway and required repairs to the central barrier.

All lanes had reopened by 4am.
It is not yet clear if anyone was injured - South Central Ambulance Service has been contacted for further information.
