THE general election count for Oxford East is to be held in St Aldate’s Church as the town hall, the usual venue, is already booked.
The city council said the switch on Thursday, December 12 was due to a ‘pre-booked Christmas event’ at the town hall.
The count normally takes place in the venue’s main hall.
It will begin at the church immediately following the close of the poll at 10pm, with the result due in the early hours.

Anneliese Dodds is defending a majority of 23, 284 for Labour.
The other candidates are Louise Staite (Conservative), Alistair Fernie (Liberal Democrats), Roger Carter (Brexit Party), David Williams (Green Party), and independents David Henwood, Chaka Artwell, and Phil Taylor.
An Oxford CND meeting is booked for the town hall on election night from 6.45pm to 8.45pm. but it is not known if this is taking place in the main hall.

City councillor Colin Cook said: “We’re very pleased the church can step in at such short notice to accommodate us - it’s a decent-sized space.”
