Will it snow while you’re heading out to vote? What the Met Office says

Last week Met Office forecasters said snow could not be ruled out this week but added that chances were 'slim'.

The suggestion that snow showers could arrive on polling day or the day after has now been ruled out.

This time two years ago the county was blanketed with snow, but so far this month, there has been no sign of it.

William Hill has given odds of 5-1 for snow falling in Oxfordshire on Christmas Day and London is 6-1.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a bright and cold start - without any snow flakes.

The Met Office said the weather would become increasingly windy and cloudy with showers in the morning, followed by a band of rain, heavy at times, slowly spreading eastwards during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

It added: "Outlook for Friday to Sunday: Bright or sunny, largely dry on Friday.

"Unsettled and windy on Saturday and Sunday, with sunshine and blustery showers. A chance of coastal gales at times. Temperatures around average."

The Met Office long range forecast for Oxford weather from Sunday to Christmas Eve also appears to rule out snow landing on the county any time soon.

It said: "Sunday looks likely to be unsettled with sunshine and blustery showers, wintry over northern hills, perhaps with more persistent rain in places.

"Early next week it may become less windy generally with some longer drier, brighter spells and local night frost.

"However, it will probably turn generally more unsettled and milder again by mid week as further bands of rain and strong winds sweep northeast across all areas."
