A CHRISTMAS Match Fund to support rough sleepers in Oxford has raised more than half of its £150,000 target.

Oxford Homeless Movement launched the fund on December 1, with the support of Oxfordshire Community Foundation, which is responsible for the doubling of donations received up to and including Monday.

Organisers are thanking their supporters including The Westgate Fund, John Lewis & Partners, The Lucy Group and the Oxford Mail and are appealing for final donations before the fund closes.

Jane Cranston, chairwoman of Oxford Homeless Movement, said: “As we all enjoy the warmth of our own homes during the Christmas and New Year festivities please spare a thought (and a few pounds) for those who have nowhere they can call home.

“We have a long way to go to fulfil our vision that ‘Nobody should have to sleep rough on our streets’ and we need all the support we can get.
