THREE operations a day were cancelled across Glasgow’s hospitals in November for 'non clinical' reasons including bed and consultant shortages, new figures show.
Across Scotland, ISD figures show that 727 operations did not go ahead, the equivalent of 24 every day and the highest number of the year.
A total of 118 surgical procedures were re-scheduled across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde hospitals while 209 operations were cancelled by patients themselves.

Health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said: “24 people per day are having their operations cancelled through no fault of their own, causing disruption and further pain.
“It’s frustrating for staff too but there simply aren’t enough of them to go around.
“There is no part of the health service which isn’t under pressure.”
