A FINAL decision on Lidl's plans for Grove will be made by the Vale of White Horse District Council today at the planning committee meeting.

Despite the plans for a new Lidl supermarket being widely supported by the community in Grove, planning officers have recommended councillors refuse the application.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Jeremy Lee, said: “We are disappointed that officers have recommended the proposals are refused despite Oxfordshire County Council now supporting the scheme, and the hard work we have put in to address the concerns which have been raised."

He continued: “However, given the significant support for a Lidl store in this location, which has been demonstrated within the community, we hope that councillors will look pragmatically at the plans before coming to a final decision.”

Following the changes to the original plan to include a new access and improved landscaping, now nearly 300 residents signed a petition urging the council to approve the plans.
