THE latest update of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography has added biographies of 228 men and women who left their mark on the UK before they died in 2016 - including rock legend David Bowie.
Prominent figures in the new update include Bowie (1947-2016), George Michael (1963-2016) and Sir George Martin (1926-2016); and broadcasters Sir Jimmy Young (1921-2016) and Sir Terry Wogan (1938-2016).

The Oxford DNB, based at Oxford University Press in Walton Street, is the national record of men and women who have shaped British history.
