AN OXFORDSHIRE couple behind a petition calling for an end to the IVF 'postcode lottery' has said they are determined to 'push' it before the House of Commons.

Abingdon couple Emily and Ben Scott are calling for changes to the current NHS provision - which depends on where people live - but were left 'stunned' in November to discover their petition would close with just 24-hours notice due to the general election.

If it did not reach 10,000 signatures there was no hope of the government responding to it but after an appeal on social media the petition hit the milestone within hours.

Tweeting on Thursday on their IVF Fairness account, they said: "We're back and ready to push our 10,000-strong petition forward."
