PRO-BREXIT campaigners are preparing for a celebration party on January 31 – the day the UK leaves the EU.

Warrington 4 Brexit’s event will take place at Woolston Social Club, on Manchester Road, and will include a buffet, DJ, entertainment and a countdown to the scheduled departure time of 11pm.

The group said ITV will be broadcasting live at the start of the party between 6pm and 6.30pm – and again at 11pm for the historic moment.

On Sunday, a Warrington 4 Brexit spokeswoman said: “Today marks a year since our first demonstration at the Skittles, Market Gate.

“We end this year as we started – a genuinely grassroots, cross-party group, committed to ensuring that the decision to leave the EU made in the 2016 referendum would be honoured.

“It’s been a tough and challenging year, but we kept faith with British democracy and our belief that eventually the will of the British people would win through.

“We now hope that everyone in the town can move on and Warringtonians can come together again and reunite.”

Warrington was one of the areas that voted to exit the EU referendum – with Leave winning 62,487 votes in the town. It amounted to 54.3 per cent of the vote.

Tickets are still available for the 'Brexit Day' event at a cost of £7.50 each, which includes the buffet.
