TRAFFIC was queuing for more than a mile on the A420 tonight due to a broken-down car.

Firefighters were on scene near Tubney, close to the Church Road junction, at about 6.30pm and were helping to control the traffic flow.

There were queues in both directions due to the blockage but drivers travelling in the direction of Faringdon appeared to be worst-affected.

One motorist said she was delayed for about 20 minutes this evening, and said the car was pulled over at the roadside with the bonnet up.

Oxfordshire County Council tweeted at 6.40pm, advising drivers to approach with care.

There were still some delays at 7.30pm but congestion had eased significantly.
